Wet Sand in An Hourglass is On The Way!

Self publishing is often a huge jumble of trial and error. Even when it's easy, there's still a lot of messing around involved just to get a good sense of what you're doing. Currently, I'm in the works to have print copies of my book made via CreateSpace. Their Interior Reviewer tool helps give me a great idea of what more to expect. This is what I'm looking at with about 75% of my book formatted and ready. Just a few more chapters to add in before I'm ready to order proofs!

I originally used Pronoun to publish my book initially. It's an intuitive, highly recommended platform for authors that helps you get your work distributed through multiple retailers. But only as an e-book, for now. Publishing with Pronoun took the guesswork out of so much--basically, I wrote my book, made some "edits" to ensure my line breaks and chapter titles would show up correctly (minimal formatting required!) and poof, it was done! In less than two minutes! Zero hassle, which was great.

There's a lot more formatting to be done for print books, considering margin spaces, fonts, and sizing. I tried reading dozens of tutorials to figure it out, but in the end just decided to purchase a readymade template and copy and paste my chapters. I'm having an easier time. When I'm done, I'm going to save my final document as a .pdf and move on to Phase Two.

I'm pretty much learning as I go, which can be confusing...but I appreciate having this as a learning experience. I know that self-publishing can be daunting to lots of people.

"I wish I could write a book but..."

You can! You absolutely can! That's why I love giving people a #BehindTheScenes of the process. It's not exclusive, it's not impossible. It's accessible to anybody willing to make the time to try, and to learn.

I am thrilled to be finally moving forward in my journey to get my work OUT THERE aka make it a physical reality. It's empowering! More updates to come soon...
